Innovation is vital for countries to keep up with the global pace of change while being more sustainable and inclusive. To create value for citizens, we need to take a wider perspective that puts the human at the center of new technologies and services. In this context, the EU has launched a new initiative in which the arts are viewed as a catalyst of innovation for industry, society and regions. At the nexus of science, technology and the arts, the STARTS initiative encourages inclusion of artists in research and innovation projects. This panel will discuss how the arts — with their unconventional exploration of technology and their critical view on its value for society — can contribute to human-centric innovations.
